Nautronix has been involved in acoustics business since the early 80’s and were predominantly supplying small USBL type systems. In the early 90’s they bought the Honeywell business which raised their global presence into the offshore market; largely in drilling. Nautronix also bought the Helle business in 1993, raising its presence in the North Sea market whilst expanding its product offering. During the late 90’s a Deepwater LBL/SBL Positioning System (RS925), utilising Digital Spread Spectrum (ADS2) signalling technology, was added to the product range and a number of these systems have since been supplied, predominately to the exploration and drilling sector. Following the successful introduction of digital spread spectrum signalling, in the late 90’s, it was recognised that ADS2 was the way forward for acoustic products, providing a substantially more reliable, longer range product with the added potential to use telemetry in a number of applications for the offshore industry. A considerable investment followed, utilising some of the new ADS2 technology that was then being used in acoustics, mainly for our Australian defence customers. Nautronix have developed and utilised this technology for commercial use in a range of products. The technology, ADS² - Acoustic Digital Spread Spectrum positions Nautronix as a technology leader in the application of coded Spread Spectrum signalling to the acoustic environment.
